The BOOM vase is based on the idea that if you choose the right materials and the right processes you can entirely delegate the responsibility of designing the final form of an object. By encasing small fireworks shells in layers of insulation foam and igniting them, I was able to create molds for several vases in the likeness of an explosion, each varied in shape but similar in theme.
